TMJ (Temporomandibular Joint Disorder) disorder affects the jaw joint and surrounding muscles, causing pain, discomfort, and can trigger or worsen migraines. Symptoms include jaw stiffness, clicking or popping sounds, and difficulty chewing.
Causes
TMJ disorder can be caused by factors such as jaw injury, arthritis, teeth grinding (bruxism), misalignment of the jaw or teeth, and stress. Poor posture, excessive gum chewing, and habits that strain the jaw joint can also contribute to TMJ symptoms.
