Hair loss, also known as alopecia, can affect both the scalp and the entire body. The normal hair cycle results in the loss of about 100 hairs per day. However, when fewer or no hairs grow back to replace them, it is classified as hair loss.
Causes
The most common reason for hair loss is genetic predisposition, however there are a number of other reasons hair loss might occur. Aggressive haircare methods like bleaching, hormonal changes, stressful events, medical treatments like chemotherapy, and thyroid disease can all result in the loss of hair.
