Cysts & Lipomas

Cysts and lipomas are benign lumps that reside under the skin. Cysts are filled with a liquid or semisolid substance that can sometimes cause pain. Lipomas are lumps of fatty tissue that move easily when you touch them and feel rubbery.

Causes

Lipomas are genetically inherited and generally appear in middle age, whereas cysts can form from a number of different reasons including infections, inherited diseases, genetics, chronic inflammation, and blockages in ducts.
